When it comes to traveling, the right credit card can make the difference between a good trip and a great one.
Not all travel credit cards are created equal! From trip cancellation insurance to access to airport lounges, what perks are offered by your credit card can make or break your trip. Many people shop travel cards only for travel reward points, but often the extra benefits are really what makes it worthwhile.
When it comes to travel credit cards, I personally look at both points and perks when picking the best one to get me to my destination. I’m also not one to shy away from paying an annual fee if it means I get access to the right benefits. For me, generous travel rewards points and lost baggage insurance (I’ve never actually lost my bag traveling, but it’s a big fear of mine) always top the list.
The CIBC Aventura Card is the Traveller’s credit card. CIBC recently added some brand new features to its CIBC Aventura Card, on top of the already amazing existing ones, to make one of the best travel cards on the market. Here’s what’s new!
The best new perks of the CIBC Aventura Card
Your mobile phone is protected with $1,000 of mobile device insurance
Up to $1,000 mobile device insurance for the first 24 months for lost, stolen, or accidentally damaged devices at home or away. All you need to do is purchase your phone, either outright or financing through a payment plan, with your Aventura card, and you will be automatically enrolled.
As someone who has smashed every iPhone she’s ever owned, with the exception of one that was stolen, this is the biggest perk to me! While some providers will cover damage of your phone, the benefit of insurance in case of theft really goes the extra mile.
Receive a rebate on your NEXUS pass application
Every 4 years, you can get a rebate on your NEXUS application. The NEXUS pass is designed to speed up border crossing for low-risk travelers between the USA and Canada, but it can also help shorten your time in the security line even if you’re only traveling within Canada. You can learn more from the Government of Canada website here.
To apply for NEXUS, it’s a $50 non-refundable application fee, and your pass will be good for 5 years. To receive a rebate for the fee, all you need to do is charge your NEXUS application to your Aventura card!
Over 1,200 airport lounges with your Priority Pass membership
The Priority Pass gives you access to 1,200+ airport lounges across the globe. With your CIBC Aventura card, you’ll receive 4 complimentary visits per year, that you can use for yourself and guests. These airport lounges can really make your vacation or business trip feel luxurious by providing food, drinks, and complimentary Wi-Fi away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the airport.
Once you have your Aventura card, you’ll be able to sign up for your Priority Pass membership using an exclusive registration link. Once you’re registered, you can show your Priority Pass card from a wallet or download the app to your phone to gain access to the lounges.
Other perks that make the Aventura Card the Traveller’s credit card
Even before the above became part of the Aventura Card offering, this travel card already had a lot of great benefits that are still part of it!
The Aventura Travel Assistant
The Aventura Travel Assistant provides free, personalized trip planning. If you want some help in building the best itinerary for your upcoming trip, all you need to do is call the Aventura Travel Assistant. Not only will they help you find flights and hotels, they’ll also help you book rental cars, cruises, get tickets to events, and more 24/7. It’s like having a personal travel concierge!
Use your travel points for any flight on any airline
One of the most important things about choosing a travel credit card for points is choosing one that lets you earn points you’ll actually use. With the Aventura card, you can use your Aventura points to book flights on any airline, giving you the flexibility to get exactly the trip you want. Better yet, your points don’t expire, so you can stockpile them until you have enough for the vacation of your dreams!
All the insurance
The CIBC Aventura card also offers out-of-province emergency medical insurance, flight delay and baggage insurance (my fave!), $500,000 of carrier common accident insurance, and purchase insurance and extended protection insurance. In other words, you’re definitely covered!
Have a great trip!
The right travel credit card is essential to the perfect vacation and the CIBC Aventura card is one that will ensure you get the most out of your trip. Whether you’re looking for a no-fee travel card or are willing to pay an annual subscription to maximize your rewards, there’s an Aventura card for you. Your next adventure awaits!
