Updates & The Boomer Rant

I’m a married lady now, and you will be noticing my name changing from “Bridget Casey” to “Bridget Eastgaard” on all platforms — so if you get an email from B. Eastgaard, don’t delete, it’s just me!

In the coming weeks I have quite a few posts to share:

my final wedding budget (it’s not frugal, brace yourself), the end of my Shopping Ban, my new way of saving that will cost me money in the long run but help many people, how to invest in a recession (or is oil turning around?), and something big/scary/crazy that I can’t wait to announce.

In the meantime, I spent the weekend partying with my friends and family so I don’t have a new post, but I DO have a great Storify encapsulating one of my notorious Twitter rants. Last week, I went on an e-crusade against Boomers calling millennials lazy and entitled (as they are wont to do). It was executed with little backlash, likely because Boomers aren’t much of a presence on Twitter.

If you’re not following me on Twitter, you’re missing out. If Twitter is not your thing or you missed my tirade, simply check out the following:

Dear Boomers, You Ruined Everything

I can’t wait to get back to my regularly scheduled posts and emails!

  1. Congrats, Bridget! Looking forward to hearing about the wedding. And your boomer rant is priceless. I’m sick of hearing “Millennials are lazy” from that generation, too!

      Thanks Kate!!

Glad you enjoyed the Boomer rant… I agree, the “lazy” label is handed out to liberally. Millennials are the biggest hustlers I know.

  2. A pretty epic rant. I hope that Gen X & Gen Y do a better job preparing our kids for financial life that starts at age 18 than most boomers did.

  3. Congrats to you! The few photos I’ve seen look fantastic. I hope you’ll share more details soon (though I understand, too, if you want to have a private life HA). You are one of my favorite people to follow on Twitter!

Haha now that it’s over I will share some details ๐Ÿ˜‰ Particularly the budget… which has been destroyed.

  4. Congrats, Bridget! Sounds like a great wedding!

  5. Congratulations to the new Mrs.!! Hope you had such a wonderful time. Glad you are taking some time off to enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚

On the last bit, where someone said “debt is a choice”…its interesting to me that the people who say “well y’all chose to be in debt” are the same people pushing the narrative that people who want higher wages (living wages) in low-skill jobs need to get in school, get a degree, and get a higher paying career. Yet at that point turn the tables and say “you chose that debt, not our fault”. The double standard is ridiculous. I know that wasn’t the point of your rant, but it was something i realized while reading that last note of yours!

Congrats on the wedding! And I especially enjoyed the Boomer rant on Twitter last week ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. Heck yes to the rant and you’re one of the most entertaining tweeters, for sure.

Congrats on the wedding! Your dress is fabulous and you looked awesome. Looking forward to seeing the not-so-frugal wedding post.

    Congrats, Beastgaard!
Loved (and favorited much of) the twitter rant!

I give you credit that you didn’t also include how Boomers are: Passing the laws to continue to strip human rights, particularly women and LGBT and they are the bankers who crashed the economy and supporting the high student loan rates that keep us in debt.

  11. Congrats Bridget!! I hope to hear more about your wedding!! ๐Ÿ˜€
